Four in a row at Borrowdale
Ricky makes light work of Lakeland classic
Posted on 02/08/2015
There is currently no stopping Salomon athlete Ricky Lightfoot when it comes to long distance Lakeland classic races.
Last month saw him make it a hat-trick of wins at the Wasdale race, and yesterday he made it four in a row at the super-tough Borrowdale race in Cumbria.
His latest win comes after a season which has seen the 30-year old win the 3 Peaks Race, Wasdale, the Ultra Trail Madiera and only last week the Dodo Trail race in Mauritius. Speaking after the race Ricky said:
“I’m chuffed to have won another Borrowdale race, especially after a fair few races recently and a fair bit of travelling. The field yesterday was really strong, and to beat Mr. Borrowdale himself Simon Booth by 6 mins is really pleasing. Mind you I have a long way to go yet to equal his record here, 12 wins, amazing”
Ricky now moves on to the 3 Refuge race in Italy, a 3-leg relay sky race, where he will partner up with fellow Salomon athlete Tom Owens.

15 years of sports marketing experience, 30 years of running and racing on hills, trails and fells.
The community manager role at Salomon couples my passion for trail running with my enthusiasm for social media, community interaction and event management. It s very rewarding when you connect with people and help them develop their knowledge, or merely put a smile on their face.
Personally it also means that get to run in some of the worlds best equipment and run in some great places around the world – something that many runners would be rightly envious of!
